GRACE - REACHING OUT! OUR MISSION
Grace-Trinity is not only a community that fellowships & worships, it
also serves the local community. Within two years
of its inception, the church opened its mission doors to the
community by establishing a computer-training center in 1998,
and in 1999, an affordable, quality day care center to meet
the needs of middle and lower income families in the community
of Frankford.
If one were to step into
Grace-Trinity during the week, you would be confronted with a
different Grace! The place is transformed from the sedate
Sunday worship center to a lively bustle of children, actively
making their presence known. This is the Grace daycare and
after school program which provides a safe-haven for mothers
to leave their treasure in good hands while they are at work. It
was the generous and sacrificial giving of church members that
provided the seed money for this center which is now a
flagship outreach ministry of the church. Our after-school
ministry is a difficult, but important ministry. According
to statistics, the time between three and six in the afternoon
is a vulnerable time for school age children in this country. A
well-developed After School Program is a blessing in any
community. Working parents are deeply grateful to
Grace-Trinity members for running a good After School Program
for their children.
The center is committed to
quality education through holistic development in the
spiritual, social, physical and intellectual spheres and is a
recognized Keystone Star Center with a two star rating.
(Keystone stars is Pennsylvania's program to improve the
quality of child care). Since it’s inception with just 5
children, it has grown to 86 children and a staff of 15.Now,
due to increasing demand for it’s services, many parents are
being turned away due to lack of classroom space, as the
daycare has reached its maximum capacity.
The day care is currently
using their assigned rooms on the first floor behind the
sanctuary and additionally, the space in the fellowship hall
has been cordoned by temporary dividers. They would be glad to
use rooms that are conducive to daily usage with more natural
lights.
The success of any outreach
is not just money, but people and the stewardship of their
time and talents. Several of you gave the time to fix windows,
design new cubbies for the children, solicit donation of toys
and children’s play things from friends and co-workers and
even provide childcare expertise as consultants. The giving of
time, resources and talents comes naturally for you, and in
the words of apostle Paul,” we thank God every time we
remember you.”
Today the center has
reached financial self-sufficiency and has gained the respect
of the community around it by providing quality daycare
services and employment opportunities. An expansion of the day
care would enable us to serve many more families and provide
ministry to the neighborhood with the gift of quality
education. We trust that you would once again, open your
hearts and help us continue in this service to the community.
There is enough open space
available behind the church for growth. A detailed plan for
expansion is provided as a supplement.
The expansion to the day
care will be conducted in two phases:
To provide additional two rooms which will
house infants and preschoolers on the Oxford Avenue side
To provide two
additional rooms to house Pre-K and After School children and
to provide an office space for the Day Care on Pratt Street
side.
