As the use of our Fellowship Hall increases, we have become increasingly aware of the physical limitations of the facility, and perhaps of greater concern, the serious structural deficiencies of a building which is 78 years old. The Board and the building committee decided that we should restore our fellowship hall for the Next Generation. Each component in this facility needs our attention. This initiative to enhance our facility is very vital for hygienic reasons and to give life to the saggy walls. A full restoration is needed in order to allow us to use this facility effectively and also to initiate ministerial programs for our Lord’s Glory.

Fellowship Hall project includes:

  • Improved kitchen

  • Lighting

  • New appliances

  • Painting

  • Updated platform

  • New Flooring

  • New Windows

  • New Study and Dry Wall

  • New Storage Area

  • Sunday School Rooms

  • Air Condition

Grace-Trinity’s secret to success has been the Day Care and After School Program run by the church.   From Monday through Friday, children gather in the halls and classrooms of the church building, transforming it from a traditionally quiet setting into one that is filled with learning, laughter and fun.  It is this amazing energy that has helped create the church we have today.

The Day Care has reached the maximum number of students it can hold in the space available.  Almost every other day there are new parents at the door asking if their child can be admitted into the program, but they are turned away for lack of space.  It is with this need in mind that the church would like to expand the day care by adding additional classrooms.

The ultimate goal of this grand-scale capital campaign is to ‘build a church for the next generation’.  This motto pretty much sums up where the heart of Grace-Trinity lies; it lies with the interests of the future generation.

Grace-Trinity’s Sunday school program started out similar to a one-room schoolhouse, with one deeply committed teacher working with four faithful children. However, in the last two years, through tenacious hard work and by the grace of God, the Sunday school has grown into 25 children ranging from ages 2-12.  There are 7 teachers who share the duties of teaching various groups: Infants and Toddlers, Pre-schoolers and kindergarteners, Juniors, and Seniors.  In addition, several youth group members help out with the Sunday school worship time, and support the teachers in every capacity possible.

The Sunday school meets in the basement of the church during church service.  As the Sunday school does not have a designated area, after the general worship time together, the teachers usher their students to various parts of the church basement, and even into the day care classrooms if necessary.  This has been tricky, as the children may still be deep in their bible lesson for the day or involved in some rehearsal for the next church event, when the adults from upstairs will begin to trickle down into the basement for Fellowship Hour.  This would mean a rushing through practice or an abrupt end to an important bible lesson.  Additionally, the Sunday school does not have a separate storage area for its supplies, and for the present these supplies are being stored in a cabinet.  Furthermore, none of the student work can be displayed, as the basement is used during the week for the After School Program.

Taking all this into consideration, the church has decided that the children of our future most definitely need a space that they can call their own.  This space will be used for the little people, giving them the familiarity of the same room every week.  It will also house supplies, and be used as display center to show parents the good work being done by their children.

It is the hope and responsibility of the church to provide a place where Grace-Trinity’s children will grow in faith and service to Christ; a building for the next generation to grow in the knowledge of God.
